PHILADELPHIA, PA December 15, 2005 – WXPN, the recognized leader in Triple A music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, will showcase its 2005 Artists To Watch picks on Saturday, December 17 with back-to-back previously aired World Cafe® shows featuring interviews and performances from 10 of the 12 named artists.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – An extraordinary night of local music will take place on Wednesday, December 21 at World Cafe Live as “Philly Bands Together” to benefit WXPN Musicians On Call, a weekly community outreach program that has been bringing live music to the bedsides of patients in area healthcare facilities, including The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, since October 2004.

Philadelphia, PA November 9, 2005 - This fall WXPN, the recognized leader in Triple A music and noncommercial, member-supported radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, is giving Penn students hands-on exposure to features writing for radio through a newly-created seminar in the University’s Critical Writing Program. “Arts and Culture Writing for Radio” teaches students how to produce stories for broadcast and includes instruction from the WXPN staff in classes held at the station’s state-of-the-art broadcast facility in University City.
PHILADELPHIA, PA October 28, 2005 – WXPN, the non-commercial radio station from the University of Pennsylvania, has selected Brandi Carlile for its November pick for Artist To Watch. On Monday, October 31 in the four o’clock hour, host David Dye will present the first of the month’s on-air segments profiling the 23-year old native of Washington State.

Elvis Costello, Norah Jones and Paul Simon are some of the many musicians scheduled to perform during Higher Ground: A Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert on Saturday, September 17 at 8 p.m. Philadelphia-area public radio stations WHYY (90.9 FM), WRTI (90.1 FM) and WXPN (88.5 FM) will simultaneously broadcast the five-hour music event, which is a fundraiser to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Higher Ground will also be broadcast on WHYY TV12 at 8 p.m.
PHILADELPHIA, PA - 88.5 WXPN, the member-supported radio station of the University of Pennsylvania, has once again won accolades from industry peers. At a music industry awards ceremony hosted by the radio trade publication Radio & Records, WXPN won Non-Commercial Triple A Station of the Year for the third consecutive year, while assistant general manager for programming, Bruce Warren, took home the award for Program Director of the Year, a category that included nominations from commercial radio stations.

WASHINGTON—NPR has acquired exclusive national distribution rights to WXPN Philadelphia’s World Cafe and Conversations from the World Cafe, two of radio’s most popular, influential contemporary music shows. The agreement was announced today by WXPN and NPR.
PHILADELPHIA, PA - WXPN (88.5 FM), the noncommercial public radio station from the University of Pennsylvania, announced the line up for its 2005 "WXPN - All About The Music - Festival" presented by Subaru at Camden County's Wiggins Park, located on the Camden Waterfront.
PHILADELPHIA, PA - WXPN, the non-commercial radio station from the University of Pennsylvania, and World Cafe Live, a live performance venue and restaurant, were presented with the Business/Arts Partnership Award by the Arts and Business Council of Greater Philadelphia at an Awards Luncheon on May 11. WXPN received a $1,000 donation as part of its award.
