Today we hear music from the Pacific coast which is dominated by marimba. UNESCO named marimba and the traditional chants of South Pacific Columbia a "Masterpiece of Intangible Heritage of Humanity." Catalina will play a traditional example from Grupo Naidy and then we get to hear how Herencia De Timbiqui puts a younger, more contemporary spin on that tradition. Next time we’ll hear completely different music from the Afro-Colombian population from the Caribbean Coast. Catalina has included a Spotify playlist for further enjoyment! /p> Latin Roots is made possible by a grant from the Wyncote Foundation.
