PHILADELPHIA, PA February 24, 2006 – WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, names James Hunter its March Artist To Watch. Host David Dye will present the first of the month’s on-air segments focusing on this rising British soul artist on Monday, February 27 in the four o’clock hour.

Helen Leicht to host performances by Birdie Busch, Caryn Lin, Codename, The Brakes and Hoots & Hellmouth.

PHILADELPHIA, PA February 13, 2006 — WXPN (88.5 FM), the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A music and noncommercial public radio station from the University of Pennsylvania, will celebrate the first anniversary of the WXPN Philly Local show hosted by Helen Leicht with a two-hour live concert broadcast on Tuesday, February 28 at 8pm.

PHILADELPHIA, PA February 9, 2006 – WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, will offer weekly podcasts of its “Blues File” hosted and produced by WXPN Blues Show host Jonny Meister. A newly released podcast will be available each Friday from both the WXPN podcast web page and iTunes. The first podcast will be available February 10 and features a commentary on the Lifetime Achievement Award that delta bluesman Robert Johnson received at the GRAMMY Awards.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – WXPN, the recognized leader in Triple A music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, is kicking off its second year of Artist To Watch monthly spotlights by selecting KT Tunstall, its January pick. On Monday, January 2 in the four o’clock hour, host David Dye will present the first of the month’s on-air segments profiling this singer-songwriter with the self-proclaimed “Chinese blood, a Scottish heart, great legwarmers, and a cool name.”

PHILADELPHIA, PA – An extraordinary night of local music will take place on Wednesday, December 21 at World Cafe Live as “Philly Bands Together” to benefit WXPN Musicians On Call, a weekly community outreach program that has been bringing live music to the bedsides of patients in area healthcare facilities, including The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, since October 2004.

PHILADELPHIA, PA December 2, 2005 – WXPN, the recognized leader in Triple A music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, has selected ALO – Animal Liberation Orchestra to cap off its yearlong list of Artists To Watch in 2005. On Monday, December 5 in the four o’clock hour, host David Dye will present the first of the month’s on-air segments profiling the four-piece “rock/funk/jam” band as the station’s December pick.

Philadelphia, PA November 9, 2005 - This fall WXPN, the recognized leader in Triple A music and noncommercial, member-supported radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, is giving Penn students hands-on exposure to features writing for radio through a newly-created seminar in the University’s Critical Writing Program. “Arts and Culture Writing for Radio” teaches students how to produce stories for broadcast and includes instruction from the WXPN staff in classes held at the station’s state-of-the-art broadcast facility in University City.

PHILADELPHIA, PA October 28, 2005 – WXPN, the non-commercial radio station from the University of Pennsylvania, has selected Brandi Carlile for its November pick for Artist To Watch. On Monday, October 31 in the four o’clock hour, host David Dye will present the first of the month’s on-air segments profiling the 23-year old native of Washington State.

PHILADELPHIA, PA The results of an online survey are in and listeners of WXPN 88.5 FM, the member-supported radio station from the University of Pennsylvania, will hear the news when the station begins its playback of the "885 All Time Greatest Albums." The countdown, which begins at 6:00 a.m. on September 27 and concludes with the number one album being played on October 13, marks the one-year anniversary of WXPN's move to its new studios at 3025 Walnut Street in Philadelphia. WXPN shares the building with the independently-owned and operated World Cafe Live, a performance studio and restaurant named for the station’s flagship program, World Cafe®.
