The countdown will start with song number 885 at 6 a.m. on Monday, October 14. It is expected that the number-one, top-voted "Greatest Song of the New Millennium" will be heard during the afternoon of Friday, October 18.

"With our annual 885 countdown, we are essentially letting our listeners produce our programming for five days," said Bruce Warren, Assistant General Manager for Programming. "After we announced this year's theme in July, they started sending us their top 10 songs of the new millennium, which is how we build each year's countdown. It's a huge undertaking, and results in one of the most unexpected and entertaining radio broadcasts produced by XPN."

A total of 8,100 songs were submitted by 1,948 voters between the dates of July 26, when voting was opened during the station's annual XPoNential Music Festival, and September 16. The "885 Greatest Songs of the New Millennium" countdown can also be heard online at, with a constantly-updated playlist of song titles and artists available.
