XPoNential Radio

The radio program grew from the acclaimed non-for-profit organization The Moth, which is dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling.

Founded by poet and novelist George Dawes Green in 1997, The Moth has presented thousands of stories told live and without notes, to standing-room-only crowds worldwide. The Moth Radio Hour program debuted in 2009 and currently can be heard on more than 200 radio stations nationwide. It is distributed by PRX (Public Radio Exchange).

WXPN is adding The Moth Radio Hour to its program schedule because "XPN is engaged and supportive of the arts, and there's a growing local storytelling and spoken word community here in Philly that we want to help support," said WXPN Assistant General Manager for Programming Bruce Warren. "The Moth Radio Hour, its podcasts and live events are tremendously popular, and it's an excellent, high-quality, well-produced program that we think will hold great appeal for our listeners."

To accommodate The Moth Radio Hour on Tuesday nights at 10 pm, XPN Local with hosts Helen Leicht and John Vettese will air from 8pm to 10pm, instead of from 8pm to 11pm.
